Don't be so dirigible. The concept it ballooning out of all proportion.

There is one hindenburg to the idea of lighter than air-transport, and that is iron is heavier than air. A balloon large enough to lift 20,000 tons would be 80,000,000 cubic metres in volume. At 200 metres in diameter it would be 2.5 kilometers long.

That is not really that big, but where would you park it downtown?

Remember the Magnus effect balloon, which had a slowly rotating circular balloon that was supposed to provide lift? It died in trials apparently, as the bearing was supposed to be hard to engineer. Probably a load of hogswallop to boot, too.
