I agree.

But it's also ridiculous to assert that the US is an awful place to live compared to Europe. Which you seemed to be saying.

If you like higher taxes, a more socialistic economy with very limited upward mobility, and cradle-to-grave social programs with limited creativity and limited challenges to authority, Europe is a wonderful place to live. If you like greater personal freedom, lower taxes, less socialist programs, and a greater risk both of wealth and of poverty, the US is the place to be. Depends on who you are and what you want.
