I think it's one of those Kumar arguments - bad things are inevitable, just accept it.

One of the things I've noticed over and over again about terrorism is that people who are far away from terrorism simply don't react the same way as people who are close to it. That's probably hardwired into the human brain, somewhere far below consciousness.

We here on the East coast don't worry about North Korea's nukes as much as they do on the West coast.

And now that Al Qaeda has starting to bomb Europe, how will Europeans react?

Fatalism is always a good one. Helps get you through the day and night better than panic.
