Weak on Terror

nytimes.com

I agree you that Mr Bush has been ineffective in the war against terror and that we can expect mores attacks. All the more reason to replace him.

The exit polls from the Spanish election seem to indicate that the incumbent lost his lead in the last few days because the Spanish people thought they were being lied to (blaming it all on ETA, when the evidence indicates al Qaeda).

Secretary Powell has also indicated that the US is upset that the Spanish were pushing for a UN Security Council resolution against ETA --- despite the evidence.

The polls also indicate that the Spanish SUPPORT the war against terrorism, they want to take the fight to al Qaeda... but they believe the attack on Iraq diverted attention from the war on terrorism, and they believe it actually FORMENTS more terrorism.
