No, X, it wasn't and isn't social. Social enters into it, of course, but rather it is a deep and profound bond that keeps most of us showing up for these shindigs. I cannot explain it. I hope that the students you teach today will be able to know this experience as the years pass. BTW, some of our teachers come to these reunions. Those teachers say, off the record, we were the last good class the school had. And they say this realizing that our class never won one single football game (we tied one) our entire senior year! - Holly
