Perhaps you did not see the news about Libya giving up WMD. We have some dialog with Iran, yes still a big problem but progress without question. And then of course, there was an interim constitution in Iraq. You most certainly did not see the human rights protest in Syria last week, a direct result of the Syrians comparing their rights to those confirmed by the Iraqi constitution.

In the first nationwide pole conducted in Iraq, Some 57 percent of respondents said life was better now than under Saddam, against 19 percent who said it was worse and 23 percent who said it was about the same.

And there is more...

This from the neo-liberal Fareed Zakaria:

First, he talks about the pressure on Al Qaeda and the change in tactics forced upon them from US (read that GWB) leadership and how the targets are Outside the US, and then says:

As a result, the terrorists have killed mostly Muslims, which is marginalizing them in the world of Islam.

...

Support for violent Islam is waning in almost all major Muslim countries. Discussions from Libya to Saudi Arabia are all about liberalization. Ever since September 11, when the spotlight has been directed on these societies and their dysfunctions laid bare to the world, it is the hard-liners who are in retreat and the moderates on the rise. This does not mean that there will be rapid reform anywhere—there are many obstacles to progress—but it does suggest that the moderates are not running scared anymore.

From Jack Kelly:

He talks about the progress in iraq, and then...

The liberation of Iraq has had ripple effects elsewhere. Syrians demanding human rights staged a sit-in at the parliament building in Damascus March 8, a protest that would have been unthinkable a year ago.

he then goes on to quote Zakaria from above.

Its all over the place, and clear evidence of Progress in the Middle East. You should ask yourself why you are not aware of these things.
