I get my freshwater at the pet store. Treated with the right chemicals, 20 cents a gallon.

Josh, I never got a saltwater tank because of some of the start up needs you mentioned. I don't have enough patience to "slowly" develop the ecosystem, and would have bought the more brilliant, and expensive, fish because of their coloration. Now, I'm better off with no fish tanks at all. We go too many places in, and out of, state so the fish would just die.
