Yes there is a comparison to Vietnam.

Comparison number 1: With every day that passes with the US troops in Iraq, the number of Iraqis opposing the US increases

Comparison number 2: Hostile territory. Enemy not well defined. Hence there are no clear well defined enemy targets.

Comparison number 3: There is no definition of what constitutes success. Hence, troops are demoralized since they do not get a feeling of some sort of achievement.

Comparison number 4: Concientious objections to reporting back for duty in Iraq is on the rise
