Condor, there is a heart shaped lake about 1 mile NE of Hess. Inco has about 18 claims (leases now?) around it. They drilled it when I was still in school. we got word clandestinely that there were nickel grades of up to 8%. On the coldest week-end of the year (-40), we took off to pick up property around it. Froze my feet, hospitalized for 4 weeks, almost lost them, lost the school year. Now it is recognized as being on one of the new concentric shatter rings around the Sudbury basin. Too bad CBA did not have the money to do more in that area.

Re: French drillers. Had a sub-contract on gas pipeline in the LaTuque area of Quebec. Met the Tessier brothers (7)who were some of the best drillers/blasters I have ever met. Later had a job in the Dubreuillville area on a new road. I was over-extended with other jobs, and this one just was not moving. One of my guys suggested I call the Tessiers. A couple of them came over and thru sheer bullishness got things moving. A friend of theirs also came along for the ride who was an expert kickboxer (but not a driller!). Someone in town who had been banned from the only bar wanted to get even with the owner/bouncer and paid him to do a number on the guy "who had a brush cut" the kickboxer did a number on him but wrong guy! It was reported to the police (OPP).

I had one of the Tessier's who spoke no English drilling on nite shift. I sent my son with him so that he was not working alone. OPP came out about 7:00 pm. Asked about the guys from Quebec. My son pointed to Gaetan, and the officer started asking questions. My son Mike told him Gaetan did not speak English. Officer said well you translate for me. "I do not speak French" "Well how do you guys communicate?" Mike made the circle movement with his index finger. Gaetan started the drill hammering. Mike used the slash across the throat motion. Gaetan stopped drilling. "with noise like that neither French nor English is any good! we use sign language!"
