DoCoMo's Problem Handsets Fixed By Download

The 160,000 NTT DoCoMo handsets that had problems operating with the firm's FOMA service in Japan have found a savior: San Jose, Calif., firm DoOnGo Technologies, The company reported that it was able to download a patch to update the FOMA phones.
The FOMA N900i handsets had embedded DoOnGo software before customers used them. “DoCoMo was able to download a patch to fix a 'reboot' bug in 160,000 phones in a matter of minutes,” the San Jose firm said in a statement.

The DoOnGo embedded software enables carriers and mobile-device manufacturers to deliver handsets quickly and to fix them when they malfunction, the company added. DoOnGo has licensing agreements for its technology with NEC, Panasonic and Sharp.
