If Aznar did misrepresent (lie?) about the possibility of it being a Al-Qaida attack, then I guess he has no one to blame but himself..

But it all truly depends upon the information he was receiving at the time. Was he aware of the discovery of that van, or had it failed to filter up to his level at that moment and he was still relying upon the early claim that the explosives matched those confiscated from the ETA..

Also, bear in mind that his own aides may have fed him wrong information and advice.

Either way, the deed is done and the Socialists are now in power. So Aznar's party can spend their time complaining about how Zapatero is an appeaser..

Sometimes it's best not to be the actual party in power.. (Ask the democrats).. Then you can complain about how the other guy's policies are bringing the country to ruin..
