Sans doubt. It's also quite besides the point I was making, which was that it was extremely stupid for Kerry to bring it up, as if the wishes of the Eurocrat elite were supposed to sway the American voter. And naturally, the Bush campaign is scoring points on Kerry's stupidity.

No, it isn't. And it is not something to worry about. They didn't like Reagan either, and he ended the cold war. They loved Carter, and he tried to gave away the store. There is a lot to be said for a "good cop, bad cop" FA relationship. Let State tell the second and third rankers over there how tough it is to work with him, and that is why we must do XYZ.

These leaders are never going to like the fact that we are the overwhelming power in the world. We would be very unhappy to live in a world where China ran things. The Dems are trying to get elected on a program of "we can make the world love us." Bad idea, both in FA and domestically.
