Hmmmm...

Words do have meanings. Once the meaning is lost, the concepts behind that meaning are lost too. I think the root cause of the neocon's mistakes is that they have lost the ability to critically examine different but related ideas because they have dropped the notion that words actually have particular meanings.

The father of neocon theory and philosophy, Leo Strauss, taught the hidden meaning thesis. This theory stated that within the important works of history, religion, ethics, and statecraft the words were maleable and contained hidden meaning discernable only to those gifted enough to decifer the "real intention". As a consequence the neocons no longer feel that words have a definition outside of the writer's manipulative skill, or the reader's power of self delusion. They lost the meanings, they lost the concepts, and they are making blind decisions as a result.

The Taliban were not terrorists.
Whether they were a political party, an army, a cult, or a court social I cannot say, but they were not terrorists in any rational meaning of the word.

LOL Haven't you heard, next yr, Tigerpaw is submitting both Saddam and the Taliban for sainthood. Those poor dears have been hounded mercilessly by those rotten neocons, who made the whole story up, just so they could inject their veins with heroin and oil.

Al, he's right. The Taliban are a conservative religious organization that harbored the al Qaeda because al Qaeda was promoting Islamic fundamentalism. They were visible and out in the open. al Qaeda is underground.....two different approaches are needed for two different org.
