Josh,
In light of that article, read this weblog entry from today on Frontline.

Comment submitted by Bartolome Cuerda in regards to blog entry: Madrid now is probably the October surprise.

As a Spaniard, I wish to encourage your efforts to promote academic freedom and media diversity in the US. They are vital, since it is the control of both education and the media by the liberal left in Spain what has prompted the reaction. Please note that the voters that have swung the balance are very young people that have been educated in State-run schools whose quality was ruined during the previous Socialist mandate, and that are on average unprepared to do any critical thinking.

But do not think that the Spanish people (even those poor youngsters) are not willing to support the war on terror if properly explained to them. Please remember that Spain has been in the front line of the war on terror without interruption for the last 1300 years (yes, 13 centuries), from 711 when Islamic armies invaded Spain to last year's repeal of the invasion ofPerejil island by Morocco. When we have had the proper information or leadership, we have never shied away from battle.
