It is the same with India and IT jobs. As we talked about yesterday - from a business viewpoint, it is better to dump the toxic waste from your factory into the nearby river. Your costs - near zero.

The cost is borne downstream by the residents who now get cancer, and die younger.

Same with this outsourcing.

Most politicians - and that includes both Repubs and Dems - are not impacted by this - so they don't care.

Corps here can:

1. Pay US workers 50-70K per year to do an IT job here - plus benefits

2. Outsource it to India - and pay 3-10K or so for the same job. No health benefits. No social security. No labor laws to contend with, etc, etc.

From a business viewpoint - what would you do?

But - who bears the costs of this? The US Taxpayer - as unemployed highly skilled people now no longer pay US taxes - they require money now!

Corps and people like Bush and Powell don't care. It is none of their concern.

I think this issue has the potential to be much more destructive to the average American middle-class ambitious person than terrorism.
