On tough voting decisions: In 2002, I decided I would vote for anyone but Gray Davis. (Obviously I live in California). In Davis' defense, he was snookered by Enron and the manipulated energy crisis. But he was still inept. I supported a very good man: Richard Riordan. He would have been an excellent governor. But Davis came up with a great political strategy; he attacked Riordan in the primaries for changing positions and being too conservative. Meanwhile, the extremists in the Republican party (yes, unfortunately we have some of those here too) attacked Riordan for being too liberal! What we ended up with as the Republican candidate was Bill Simon: a far right extremist with questionable business practices. I always vote: What should I do? Finally I decided to vote 3rd party. Yes, my vote didn’t really count, but I couldn’t vote for either candidate. Amazing. That is why I came to this thread ... I wanted to make sure Kerry was OK (and not a Bill Simon on the other extreme). Everything I've read shows that he is a centrist, a good man and will be a solid President. What he has said on the economy, trade, jobs, national security, the environment has been very positive. Will he do what he says? I hope so. I ignore all the smear posts (I wish people wouldn’t post those here), but I do read about Kerry’s record. I don’t disagree with every vote, but overall he seems solid.
