Iraq was not a threat to us at the time but needed to be searched and inspected with the very real threat of force. There was no hurry to invade except in Bush-cheney's minds. Since they rushed in and didn't use the type of common sense diplomacy Bush Sr. used during the Gulf War, they made the occupation of Iraq a nightmare and hugely costly to us. Now almost our entire military is bogged down in Iraq. We literally have no idea why we're there or how to get out. All we have our theories and spin. The initial reason was to search for WMD's. That is done. We didn't find any. Now what do we do? Bush refuses to change course and the UN doesn't trust Bush so what we need is a new leader whom other countries trust.
