Ted, You want to get to regional democracy and stability by starting a horrific war that could go on for years in one of the countries of that region?

Most Iraqis feel they're better off now.

By helping the region.........by using the carrot and stick approach.......

We are. Saddam didn't play ball, so we used the stick. Khaddafi and Musharaff did, so they get our help.

You can't crush the will of passionate people who firmly believe in their cause.........the Hamas, the French peasant, the northern Irish, the American colonist.

Its also full of passionate people with strong wills who's wills where crushed or who where slaughtered.

If people are so willing to fight and die to impose their cause then you have to avoid them, surrender to them and accept their cause, crush their will or kill them. In this situation avoiding them is not possible, and surrendering to them is worse then the damage they can do to us.
