No one including the Europeans accepts the third choice. I suspect we will have to learn to live with number one [the JF choice], and at some point, when we get an enlightened president into power, do some of the stuff Z [choice number two] is talking about without the neocon's penchant for war. If we do the latter [Z's choice], the fears from number one should begin to ameliorate.

I take less issue with the neocon's penchant for war than I do with the neocon's lack of planning for postwar and his lack of attention span.


Since the beginning of the 20th century, I can think of only two wars where the goals were successfully accomplished..........WW II and the Gulf War. And WW II was successful mostly because of the Marshall Plan that came after the war.

I think wars should be fought only when your country is directly threatened and/or attacked.

BTW what did you think of that Aljazeera article I posted to you?
