Because it is the truth which gives you a background of how often many Jews who were both Temple priests and radical preachers , carried the name Jesus back in those times . In fact it was a very common name going back just so far. And with the Romans crucifying almost 500 Jews a day during some periods , many would have had the name Jesus . And this backed up by so much scholarship....which should be taken into consideration in the context of the current concersation with Solon on what Paul knew and didn't know ...about someone who carried a name that was universally bestowed throughout the many tribes of Judea for anyone appearing to be a heroic savior of evry tribe clan or city or region appearing so often down thru the much doctored Hebrew history...since the time dating back to Moses & "Joshua" (Jesus of the Fish), which is also a mythology. Perhaps rather than attack people greg , in the "true spirit of a morbid paranoid tunnel-vision~ Christ~Christianity" as it is want to be all these centuries ...try to start fresh . Make ammends for the calamity some of your ignorance has caused the world by the micro~misconception you are the only "righteous ones" on the planet , then go on to miss the enitire point of the exercise of life and existence . Or why have Christians so often killed other christians in this world too? If you want morality and civility and peace to come to some fruition on our planet or in our civilization , feel free to take refuge in your own chosen image of that perfection , but realize that such a hero & his aspiration is not unique to the people's of the earth , if you chanced to ever look up from the well you are in , and look around you. Solon could very wqell be doing God's work as well, who are you to say ? God is very mysterious this way , as we all have our revelations and crosses to bear . Always try to remember , that one of the great lessons in humility your friend Jesus ever learned , was from a poor woman of Canaan , which pleading for her sick child , was called a "dog" for her natural efforts to help her child . Only because of the tribe she belonged to. You see even Jesus had some learning to do on the path ...like everyman must do. That was your Jesus too.

Do you actually think for yourself, or can you only cut and paste? The same thing could be said of the early Christian church fathers and those same "believers" today ...believe it when they edited and re~edited the stories which even today you find just so many discrepancy , so what is there to prove or disprove ? A whole lot of cutting and pasting was going on there .<G> Here is a nice Baptist Christian website discussing the discovery of a burial box with the inscription "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus" ccarved in Aramaic on the side of the box. And so scientists have dated the box to A.D. 63 ... yfiles.com Is it a forgery ? What does it prove to you ? A believer would say that this is proof of the Historical Jesus , just like Paul could render all manner of attributes to one named Jesus "the savior" ...but the fact remains that both the name Jesus , and the name Joseph were common everywhere and it would stand to reason a burial box could be found with that inscription as you could find one for "Augustus brother of Tberius". There were 1000's of Josephs and Jesuses quite literally. That there is a need for human beings that are always threatened by the geography on which they live and find themselves to have a belief system in a savior~protector ...and that theology/mythology which describes one who will come , does tend to set the stage for many self-fullfilling prophecies . Just as when rains come , there tend to be flash-floods, so a story arises by what people see around them and hope for and fear ....make up stories , which are based on original archetypes common to the experience of that people . And their fear of the "Big Guy" upstairs who throws down the thunderrbolts and makes the thunder clap. Hope is universal ...for curing illnesses and deliverance and the power of enlightenment . As in my previous post to you of the Son of Apollo, God of Light "Asclepius" here Message 19929336 And he ---->raised people from the Dead , and was later made into The Son of God of Healing . Because their were no Temples to Asclepius in Jerusalem , but found almost everywhere else in the Empire for 100's of yrs , you don't think Paul never heard of this Son of God's story ? Now the question is , do you really think for yourself ? But it is in the heart these matters are solved , and temperance & moderation , even when it comes to the exchange of ideas , for faith by itself is ever a poor substitute for truth , when devoid of reason and moderation to the facts that we do know exist of our collective history ...not what some clergymen in Rome penned down latyer afterwords... Or what the Jews invented about themselves when they began to really congeal as a religion some centuries after the diaspora. regards Mars PS: Do i believe in a superior moral human being that lived and preached good Gospels of living and life eternal ? Of course I do , for I have met some in my own lifetime and some have known by the study of history . I'm sure the same could be said of Paul in his time , and for this archetype known as Jesus for him...and without breathing life into his story we all may have never known about at all except it bacame entrenched in an empire from which we all inherit many common identities festivals , law& justice , social structure , arts , sciences , philosophies & mythologies .... prejudice and prides and many many other stories & cosmologies.

Now a simple question for you .... Do you think that there is not any place where any scripture has been ever "doctored" or forged ? Borrowed or stolen or absorbed from another ? Written in at the behest of some Judaic King , Emperor, or Medieval Monarch or Pope to keep his place secure for his own purpose ? Dellude or control his people or give them hope? Or frighten other tribes or try to outdo and impress..or to convert the barbarian and make him docile? Of the Torah or Talmud Bible or Koran ? They all were ...and if you want evidence of this , just look to the Sunni/Shias of Islam blowing each other up right now today each with their venerated "wise ones" ...no look at the Jews battling over interpretation.....no look at the Christians that plagued each other for centuries when there were no other pagans left to torture persecute destroy or supplant . And all three above trying to outdo each other ...see who can chant the loudest. On and on and on. How can you tell me then , that it is I that needs to think for himself ?
