McCain says Kerry NOT weak on defense today. Americans should take the moderate straight-shooting McCain's word for it rather than the Bush propaganda machine's. In every single attack on Kerry's record the Bushies have seriously distorted the reality of the situation, always failing to mention that key Republicans including Cheney and Bush Sr. were in full agreement with many of JK's cost-cutting measures. Those cost cuts were "peace dividend" cuts of old Cold War programs which were no longer useful or cost efficient. Not all defense and intel spending is smart or good for the country. Bush-Cheney have also cut weapons systems which were not wise to build, though they have funded others which I consider huge boondoggles while under-funding care for our troops and veterans.
