It's the difference between old/new jobs and the growth of the population that makes all the difference.

What additional hiring?

At the peak, Shrub had lost 2.8 million jobs (maybe 3 m?). It takes 1.8 million new jobs/year just to take up all the new entrants into the job market. Think how many new jobs have to be created just to soak up new entrants AND employ those who have lost their jobs.

The unemployment RATE is terribly misleading as it doesn't include those who lose their benefits because they have been unemployed too long.

No one thinks lots of new jobs have and are being created. That includes the republicans.
