Saving pictures in Windows

I am running Windows XP Professional

When I right click on a picture in a web page to save it, the default is .bmp, not .jpg. In fact, I'm not given an option of saving as a .jpg.

This has to be a fairly simple setting.

Anyone have any ideas?
