From Fleck's reader:

I talked with a very old friend in the car business today. He told me that the District Manager for one of his lines (Chrysler) has been beating him up nearly every week to take more cars than he has ordered from the factory. In addition, my friend's brother works as a DM in the industry and is leaving after a profit sharing check clears in April. He (my friend's brother) has been unable to sleep because of the pressure he is under to force inventory down the throats of the dealers in his district. Thought you'd find this attempted "channel stuffing" interesting. My very old friend has been in the business for 20 years, is well capitalized, and has now lost money 2 months in a row for the first time ever. I wish him all the best but can't believe it has taken this long for a pullback in retail car sales.

The Ameritrade crowd may be getting tired too. They did get their animal spirits up Monday, but rather subdued otherwise, including some real selling yesterday:

16th: 54.4
