The majority of the Spanish people did elect the government they have chosen. Democracy is alive and well in Spain. Democracy doesn't always produce pleasing results but democracy, the institution, is a precious thing. Folks who are complaining about this particular outcome will probably be apoplectic once they've seen how the Iraqis vote. We who live in democracies get what we deserve and deserve what we get. I do wish, though, that the Spaniards hadn't taken the rest of us with them. Of course, they would probably say the same thing about our election.

You seem to be overly sensitive to the party type...Socialist. That's what they call themselves. The other party calls itself something else. We have the same thing here in the US. Dems and Repubs and "others". The Dems and Repubs each have a wide variety of people and political thought in their parties. The left in the US has a extreme left wing, and they call themselves Socialists. (see the web sites I listed earlier) If you look at what John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Daschle, Pelosi, etc believe, you will see they don't think in the center of the Democrat party.... They in fact, believe in the "Robin Hood" idea..."Take from dem that has, and give to dem that doesn't....",* therefore making these people beholden to the political party that they are brainwashed into thinking they are 'getting their due.' *As Long As Their OWN property, money, etc is already tied up into trusts/foundations/etc. Then look up the definitions of Socialism. I posted a long list of Socialism organizations throughout the world earlier this week. You will see yourself what the differences are. And they seem to be proud of their title Socialist. They labeled themselves.
