So, would you extend the same courtesy to, say, elections in Pakistan? Or, given that you are no longer Indian, elections in India?

Oh, you're no fun. Don't you know that politics is a sport and that we're all armchair quarterbacks?

Seriously, I think it's fair for folks to criticize the people's choice. Different folks have different ideas about what is a good outcome and a bad outcome. And "the people" are often dumb or manipulated or shortsighted and they do make mistakes. I don't think we have to respect their choices. What we need to respect is that due process occurred, they made their choice, it was their right to make it, and they're responsible for the outcome.
