CR, I very much agree with you that Kerry has voted free trade while in the Senate.I submit to you that such a position is not a good thing in the democratic party.

Early in the campaign I heard him say that some democrats liked jobs but not the people who created them. Clearly he indicated understanding at that point of where wealth comes from.

Frankly the democratic primary season drives candidates to the left. This drag was lead by Howard Dean. Perhaps Dean's success in this effort will turn out to be a curse.

Where Kerry looses the positives of his past positions - and probably what he really believes assuming he is intelligent - is the flame thrower approach he has chosen in the campaign. When you attack as a undisciplined flame thrower and then come back and say you are not against what you flame thrower attack - you become a flip flop.

I hope this is someway clear. It is my position that a sane democrat would win every national election. Unfortunately the interest groups in the dem party draw candidates hard left and hopefully cost them the election.
