The Saudis have been protected by Bush-Cheney but up the road they see Bushies with the Iraq fields and able to coubnteract OPEC. Normally this would be a positive for the US to control the power of the Iraqi fields, but the Bushie oil companies have proven that they would just as well cheat and gouge the US taxpayer and consumer out of any benefits, while making us pay for the cost of rebuilding and drilling. The Bushies would also like to take Iran but need a second term and another excuse (hyped or not) to do it. (disclaimer - that last remark is my guess, but the rest of it true, so I have read.)
