I'll be willing to bet that it's not because they're doing eye exercises.

That's the only catch. Performing the eye exercises.

And the $97. It very well may be true. Though allow me to be skeptical.

In general, I've wondered about the need for eye correction across the demographics. [Unscientifically] It seems like the higher up one is on the income and education ladder the more likely it is to see glasses. Money causes vision problems...<s>. I don't think so. On the other hand, education levels suggests increased reading at an earlier age. Maybe...reading at an early age starts showing up long distance vision problems later on.

That's actually consistent with the notion of natural vision therapy. By reading one is unintentionally doing eye exercises that negatively affects distance vision. Surely, someone must have done a study on that?
