And who would have thought , that the suffering of Jesus on the cross ....would even be considered pale in relation to the real torture & pain inflicted by the more modern intruments of torture these hideous pious faithful concocted in Voltaire's day .

The Romans and Jews of even those ancient times could be seen as being
just and compassionate , and almost benign
by comparison to that kind of torture in Christian Europe.

That prayer, btw , by Francis is a good one....one of my
favorites of all Christendom...a good and true pious man.

Because of men like Voltaire, the field & scope of man starts to overlap on the fields of heaven and back to Eden ...and at last the rediscovery of some transparency sanity and liberty/equality...and grace thru reason and compassion and the practice of true tolerance and acceptance ...and protection from false zealousness.
