"The indictment brought back happy memories of the Bush open-mike gaffe in 2000, in which he called a reporter "an asshole" and then refused to apologize'

This open mike gaffe was uttered by The Ole Gas Bag himself...lil dick cheney...not Jr.

The problem is that George W. Bush has truly bad manners. At the recent Summit of the Americas summit in Mexico, he could not have possibly been more visibly bored. The bullying that led up to the Iraq War — particularly ugly in the case of Turkey, which will come back to haunt us — made him unpopular all over the world.

Yes, interesting that Ivins mentions this. During a conversation with PM Paul Martin, Bush made this incredibly weird and rude face when Martin politely excused himself to speak in French for a moment. Bush's facial gestures were caught on camera and have been very widely aired up here, especially during several of our political comedy shows which have extremely large audiences across the country (This Hour has 22 Minutes; Rick Mercer's Monday Report; Royal Canadian Air Farce). I'd say that, between the 3 shows, about 90 percent of Canadians saw the clip. Pretty hilarious.
