Steel structure is weak against fire, unless encased in cement. In highrise steel structure buildings this is not possible due to the weight of the necessary cement, so the structure is designed such that the building will stand up FOR A WHILE to let the people inside escape. They teach this in schools, for God's sake. If there is a conspiracy theory that is easier to disprove, I'd rather not hear about it. Re "The face on mars" - Carl Sagan's last book "The Demon Haunted World" has quite an earful to say about that, starting with how and why the human brain is wired to recognize faces from the day a baby is born, in order to maximize survival chances, going on to how one of the "nostrils" of "the face on mars" is actually a black dot that means "lost data". And this cynicism was before other pictures taken of the region showed that, under different lighting conditions/shadows, the topography looks nothing like a face. But the story of the filming of the first moon landing is a bit more interesting. (No, I am not going to transform into a conspiracy theorist all of a sudden -g-) I am fairly certain that man walked on the moon and all that, because such an elaborate hoax cannot be kept under covers for so long, especially when so many people are involved. However, the question of whether or not the US state, in fierce competition with USSR over the space race, went to Stanley Kubrick and ask him to fake a moon landing picture or two is another story, imho. I saw an interesting documentary on the subject where Kubrick's wife was detailing the set, the pinpricks they made on the black cover to simulate stars, etc. It may have been this one:cbc.ca The very unlucky dead crew members from Kubrick's group are quite real. So is Stanley Kubrick being a complete recluse in his house for years afterwards, telling people he is afraid to go out lest US state make him fall off a cliff (as told by his wife). [He and/or his wife could of course be completely mad] Did man go to the moon? Sure. Was there also a hoax involving Stanley Kubrick? Also possible.
