I disagree.

Put yourself in AQ's shoes for a second. The 9/11 attacks were not designed to bring down the towers, but they did. AQ expected a few cruise missiles. It certainly did not expect the deadly and relentless response it got. Look at it coldly: AQ has lost Afghanistan as a haven and as a harbor. It has lost a lot of key leaders and it is about to lose Zawahiri. Its financing has dried up. A possible financier and somewhat of a comrade in arms--Saddam--is history. A large American force is planted in the heart of the ME. Saudi Arabia is seriously going after them and so is Pakistan. OBL will be pushing up daisies this year.

To put it baldly, things are simply not going well at all for the Islamowhackos.

It's not too complex a calculation from AQ's standpoint. The common denominator for everything that has befallen it is an activist US headed by Bush, who sees the world in much the same way they do--black and white

There is no doubt in my mind that AQ will do whatever it can to have the American electorate get rid of Bush and replace him with a Dem President who will undoubtedly be less active in pursuing them.

This means attacking the coalition's forces and backyards, more bombs in Iraq, more American deaths, all designed to get the American electorate to tire of the struggle and elect a Dem.

It's not a bad strategy. It might very well work. The US electorate, well, don't get me stared..........
