He was not siding with Saddam so much as criticizing other Arab nations siding with the US. Even in recent times, i.e. just before the invasion last year, bin Laden specifically called the Iraqi *people* to rise against the US, and only made some derogatory references to the "socialist" government of Saddam Hussein.

I do agree that Iraq has now become the Petri Dish of terrorists. OBL and his cohorts must really thank Bush for making it possible, but they don't have the decency to thank someone for helping them.
