Yes I see otherwise. No, I'm not interested in naming companies on SI that our family and friends are personally associated with, sorry. That's just too personal.

Best of luck to your highly qualified friends- I hope they find work soon.

There's a silly version of "The Grasshopper and the Ant" fable making the email rounds. But here is the REAL updated 2004
version fyi:

OLD VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the Summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE ORIGINAL STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

2004 VERSION:

The hard working ant gets laid off when his job is outsourced to India.
The lazy grasshopper joined the National Guard, since you get paid for a few lousy hours of goofing off each month. But he was shipped to Baghdad and was never heard from again, since photographs are not allowed of grasshopper caskets.

The ant got a job flipping burgers and was placed on the “employed—manufacturing sector” list by the Bush administration.

MORAL OF THE UPDATED STORY: Burgers or Baghdad, YOU decide.
