Well, what strikes me is that all the baby boomers expect to retire rich with little cash but with some 401Ks and some equity in houses and hopes on Social Security. Who will they sell to their stocks and houses when they needed money to fund their consumption? I think the current retirees are actually doing much better than the future ones will.
No media, no politicians want to touch SS issues. Paul O'Neil commissioned a study on 44 Trillion SS deficit and got canned. I'm sure Greenspan recently touched SS because he wants to be remembered that we was aware and concerned of the problem.
