Ted,

re: I know you and JF probably don't agree but after watching the Sunnis and Shiites march trough Bagdad today, demanding that we leave........I ask you......what the hell are we doing there? I think we should get out. To hell with them!

I agree we should get out. The mission is accomplished, SH is out of power... let them run their own country, figure a way to form their own government. It will probably be ugly but in the end it will be their government, not ours, and it will have more staying power.

But the reality is that now there is too much at stake, and the Bush admin is falling into the nation building trap. We will be "married" to Iraq forever, with all the cost that that implies.

John

Your statement exemplifies the typical John Kerry Liberal weakness we saw with such brilliant foreign policy managers as LBJ, Carter, and Clinton. Instead of doing the job that needs doing, these people found it more comfortable to do the job that seems politically expedient.

Pulling out of Iraq now would be a travesty; the families of American kids who have given their lives in this effort would have every right to react violently: "We gave our kids' lives, and for what?"

Strong leaders are resolute in their actions, and they must be. The greatest challenge in the war on terror is keeping the Left focused on the fact that we were attacked and cannot stop until the job is done.
