They definitely have lowered their expectations. I got into the grad school there based on the weather or if they were being more scientific that day, they picked my name out of a hat.
Actually it is still a wonderful school and for out of staters, hard to gain admittance. They offered CW a place in their advanced scholar program-- I can't remember what it was called but you live in a separate dorm and get first dibs on courses- and we took him there hoping he would love it. I am still a Virginian at heart and wanted one of the boys to go "home". I have no idea how he could see that campus and not want to be part of it, but he sat in on some freshmen core class of 300 and walked out saying he didn't even want to finish the rest of the tour. It was just too big for him. He hated it.
Ah well, each to his own.

Hey- I DID know my Latin! Maybe Jefferson would have accepted me if I took remedial math then, too?
