Clinton was never in bed with any company which perpetrated fraud. Bush and Cheney both were, deeply. That my friend is the big difference. Enron and Halliburton were Bush and Cheney's closest allies. Enron was the worst of course, and Bush's biggest contributor. Together they deregulated Texas energy markets, then in 2000 when Bush-Cheney were nominated, the friendly hugs were invited to the troughs of California (as well as the whole country). To make this happen (all energy prices spiking at the same time) thorough top-level collusion must have been deployed. No coincidence two of their own, and all big oil ticket was running, and Gore's best issue was the economy. The Bushie phony energy crisis in 2000-2001 helped drag the economy down, gave Bush-Cheney an issue they lied about with phony promises and threats, and greatly enriched their Texas backers. After this it was all covered up. Enron's Ed Gilespie was in charge of the cover up. GW later promoted him to head the RNC. The "energy shortages" suddenly became unaplained gluts the day after Jeffords switched parties giving Dems subpoena powers.
