Andrew Sullivan in rare, truly excellent, form Seems to me that Sullivan's quality is not at all rare. He's one of my favorites. I like him because he's really smart. I like him because he communicates clearly. And I particularly like him because he regularly concedes, as he did in this article, what should be conceded. There is nothing less effective than an advocate who acts like his side holds every single card. Sullivan is so much more persuasive in what he asserts because he overreach. He has a few misses, but I think he's routinely very apt and very effective. His work stands out among the demigogery and the relentless, mindless bullshit.
