Nikita > As you should know under Sadam anybody could have been taken from his/her home even during the day(KGB did it only during the night) and then tortured to death.

I don't know it as a fact. I have only read the stories by people who were doing whatever they could to demonize Saddam so that they could grab his country.

a. There was a very bad war with Iran where millions died. This war was fought by Iraq as a US proxy and with US support and materials.

b. There was a Shia uprising after the Kuwaiti war which was encouraged by the US and where the US renegued on their side of the bargain that they would support it. As result of that, Saddam killed/tortured thousands who he considered were guilty of treason. Imagine what would happen in the US (or Russia) if people took up arms against the government at the behest of a foreign power. They would not be treated nicely either.

Sure they were scared. Iraq was under extreme sanctions by the UN/US and as result, and we know this as a fact, at least 500,000 children died of starvation.

Furthermore, who is fighting the US at the moment? Terrorists, I suppose? Anyone who doesn't agree with US policy and is prepared to lay down his life because of his beliefs is a terrorist. And just like the USSR, the US is contemptuous of anyone who resists its attempts at "forced democratization".

Amnesty International is a famous organization which investigates "human rights" abuses in all countries.

In fact, as one who has personally witnessed, possibly even experienced, many human rights violations in the USSR, maybe you would like to make a donation to them.
