re: I think its amazing that British blood lines still play a role in our politics.

I have some of those blood lines. They haven't done me a bit of good.

It helps to have lots of money. <g>

I am still amazed at how well people preserve those blood lines over centuries and don't let them die out. BTW in the case of Kerry and Bush at least, there must have been some family planning done........they seem to have blood lines coming from a couple of different directions.

I also am amazed at how Europeans have dominated the world for the past 500-600 years but that's another subject.

re: I thought the same damn thing when I saw a replay at the gym today. Its overdone.

He's got that self satisfied smirk. If he wants to play the War President game, it's not appealing. Especially to folks that have kids, or know kids on the front. Rove is giving him some bad advice. If he were smart, he would never even mention Kerry. The "I'm the man, I don't even recognize these liberal wimps" strategy.

I think they are playing up the war president because they are worried. They've had a couple bad months capped off with that grim Tim Russert interview where Bush behaved like a turkey. For the first time in three years, I believe they are worried. In addition, I believe Bush has lost some of his confidence.

re: The Bush cronies would make mincemeat of Gore......he's not the fighter that Kerry is.

I disagree. Gore also has the revenge factor. Been a VP. Doesn't have the senate vote records on 1000 bills to pound.

Maybe the voting record yeah but I don't think he wants it bad enough. I am still annoyed that he rolled over over during the FLA election brouhaha. I would have fought to the bitter end.

The thing that is sleazy about the voting record attack, is that the best politicians have the ability to change their mind, depending on the current situation. What they define as wishy washy is really an understanding of the what is needed at this point in time. The guy that won't change his mind, for whatever reason, is more dangerous and less productive.

Personally, I think the voting record is too abstract for Americans to grasp. Since I have been following the Bush WH, I see how Americans react to political rhetoric......it takes a lot of pummeling by the media to get a message across. Americans are just now getting that Bush mislead them re. WMDs in Iraq. That's why the poll numbers are just now starting to go against him.

I think alot will depend on how they come off during the campaign. Kerry looks a little plebian and will have to work against type. Kerry also needs to keep pushing Bush on debating. Bush couldn't debate his way out of ten year old paper sack during a rainstorm. Even if they never debate, Bush will look like a chickersh*t.

They will constantly nail Kerry on his voting record. And in a sound bite election, he won't have a chance to carefully explain the situation we were in at the time of his vote. That's why it's a bad idea to have a Senator as the Presidential candidate. Too much baggage. Governors make better candidates.

His voting record may be a negative but not the kind of negative like a faltering economy or like a roadside mine blowing up a few American soldiers in Iraq. I think Kerry has a good shot at this election esp. if Bush has used up all his nine lives.

The key for both sides is getting out the vote. People are motivated......we'll see who's most motivated.
