Unlike Iraq, they've got WMD No, I don't. That line of reasoning is akin to saying "If there are two murdering thugs walking the street torturing and raping people, we shouldn't stop one unless we stop them both". North Korea, with it's massive missile arsenal aimed at South Korea and Japan would be a far greater risk to get rid of. Unfortunately, the Chinese communists prevented us from ending the reign of terror there years ago. So we will have to look at different answers. At least for now... I would support a special forces operation designed to free the thousands of people trapped in Nazi like torture camps though. I would also support the U.S. ambassador embarrassing the living hell out of the communist leader who rules the place in front of the world by showing every kind of picture and evidence we could get our hand on of the atrocities going on there. The idea that we should coddle and walk on diplomatic egg shells around that evil bastard is ridiculous. What has shown to work against tyrants in this day of instant visual communications is straight talking diplomacy (calling evil evil), followed by strategic military and broad based economic sanctions. The thug who tortures thousands and causes the starvation of millions ruling the land-area known as North Korea doesn't deserve to be called a world leader, or sit at any table with those who are. It may not be nuanced enough for those who run state circles of diplomacy, but those who have been nuanced have failed miserably for years while millions have suffered and died there. While they have been writing long dissertations in Foriegn Affairs magazine extolling the virtues of treaties with a thug, the madness and genocidal killing has continued.
