If people feel that there are ***NO*** jobs, then that is the reality, for them and for Bush. I took a quick glance at the congress.org website and looked for header lines that the word "jobs" in them. LOTS of messages that say "NO jobs" and none that say "slow job growth" or "lots of jobs". Therefore, Bush's economic reality is closer to NO jobs than anything else.OUTSOURCING Economy Perhaps, Mr. President, you would not view outsourcing in such a detached way if your livlihood was threatened. The millions of jobs shipped off to India already are just the tip of the iceberg. A new study shows that as many as 14 million jobs may be lost in the coming years. Big business will definitely keep costs down if they only have to pay 50 cents an hour for highly skilled technical work and all your friends will make great profits, but what will happen to average Americans? Will you re-train the unemployed to work at McDonalds? Come to think about it, Mr. President, maybe your job IS threatened by outsourcing. I certainly hope so. -------------- My families opionin To: President George Bush March 19, 2004 With four registered voters in this household we would all rather vote for just about anybody but you. We have a friend that was in a bombing in Iraq and, fortunately, was not injured. We have a brother and uncle who ships out in a month. You never found those weapons of mass destruction. Our economy is horrid and you want to continue to give our hard earned tax dollars to foreign contries. You are letting our jobs go out to other countries which continues to deplete our economy. We live in Oregon which has the second highest un-employment rate in the country. Two of my sons and several of my friends have been looking for work for months and been un-able to find any. Now on to education. How about spending some of that not so hard earned money that you're spending on all those annoying commercials back into our future and making sure that the next generation can have what they need? Oregon's governor took a pay cut to put the money back into the schools specifically. Get the hint? You might want to examine your salary v. your contributions to the American society not to all the foreign nations. Our economy is in deep trouble and our schools are in deeper trouble.
