Clark is absolutely roasting junior's administration so far on 60 minutes. They're going to need a lot of talking heads telling armed with a lot of lies to counter this.

I don't recall Clinton ever offering Powell anything.

The offer is documented in David Halberstam's "War in a Time of Peace", page 301.

When Warren Christopher told Clinton that he wanted to step down, Clinton asked Vernon Jordan to contact Powell and ask him if he would be interested in becoming Secretary of State. When Jordan called him, Powell asked him, "Can you derail it?" Jordan said no. According to Halberstam, "He met with the president and politely turned him down."

In the same paragraph, Halberstam notes, "Powell was quite leery of the Clinton team; he did not have very much confidence in its top players, and he feared that they might tarnish his own reputation.

McCain would otherwise be Senate Majority Leader, sorry.

You have a vivid imagination. Where, pray tell, is McCain going to get the votes.

Frist has been damaged badly by the Medicare price scandal.

Actually, Frist has been damaged by his inability to kick some partisan ass.
