Aide's Book Faults Bush 9/11 Response

Stockman_scott,

Have you considered the prospect that this Faulting of Bush for 9/11 will, sooner or later, inevitably force someone with an interest in history to start comparing his "faults" to those attributed to Truman, Roosevelt II, Lincoln and even Washington?

Democracies never go to war without such "faulting" you know, it's in the bloodlines. The critics here have usually rolled snake eyes for the effort. I would think it fairly dangerous to risk inviting such comparisons to our most hallowed CEO's without examining their circumstances in some detail.

If you wanted to get ahead of the game you should probably start with a quick check on Wilson. I know he's not in the Big 4, but you are likely to find something there to fuel a quick preemptory comparison; but if it were me I'd stay away from this 9/11 "Fault" spin entirely.

Kerry has a rough road ahead and it certainly wasn't very good to start it on the slopes of Idaho. College kids get spring break but most working adults don't. He needs to project an image of working harder for us than Bush, who loves to kick back himself. That would have been an easy target, but he's already forfeited it.

Bush has weaknesses which Kerry doesn't and you had better get after them PDQ; but calling the President stupid and negligent is not going to work. You can't be an elected official without being "stupid and negligent" and Kerry has been an elected something or other most of his adult life.

Any way those are just my amateur thoughts on the matter.

...If you want my professional thoughts let me know and we'll talk. <Hoo><Hoo>
