when tech companies became large cap they used to move to the NYSE. This changed in the mid 90s when Cisco and others decided they were happy with the Naz. So you're comparing apples and oranges Naz 15 years ago vs. today.

But anyway your numbers are off, or you are looking at absolute low points or something. The naz closed out the 90 year in the mid-300s, and was in the 500s in 91, and 600s-700s in 93-95.

Why was NAS at 100 in 1982, only 200 in 1990 and only 500 in 1995.......
