Jay,

high on my agenda upon my return is revisiting investment avenues such as TDF to get a piece of SE Asia without having to do a huge amount of due diligence.

We (16 total, 15 gringos and me) were just about the only non Chinese tourists in Yunnan. My wife was practicing her Chinese on many of the other tourists. Almost all we talked to are basically "peasants" and factory worker types. If they can afford to have a vacation and travel, I can only conclude that a middle class is finally taking shape in China.

OT - for those who had never been to Halong Bay in Vietnam, GO NOW. It got to be one of the most beautiful spots on earth that I have ever visited, and Jay, the chicken soup there is much less than US$25 per bowl. In fact, $25 will get you 3 or 4 kilos of live cuttle fish.
