Ted, as usual, you bring much more to the table than I do, so I guess I'll start with the point you missed. If Richard Clark wants to criticize our efforts in Iraq as futile and counterproductive, he might as well say that our soldiers died in vain. The only viewpoint that makes sense is that there is value in demonstrating the loyalty our soldiers demonstrate to the president's agenda, no matter how futile it may be. But that's kind of a stretch to justify Clark's desire to avoid ticking off our troops and those who support them.

Now to your other points:

The terrorism was not in Iraq a year ago.....it was everywhere but Iraq.

Your tone suggests that terrorists were all over the place, but conciously avoided Iraq because of the "huge wall of separation" between Saddam and Osama. Yeah, right.

But this thing with Hamas takes the cake. The WH needed to reel in Sharon long ago but they didn't........the Tom Delays of the world would complain whenever they tried. Now Sharon has gone and done a very stupid move. The Palestinians will not be happy until they assassinate him.

Personally, I think Sharon should have waited until Palestine achieved statehood. Then if the suicide bombings continued (which would have been likely), Sharon would have all the reason in the world to assassinate the guy.

And thanks to Bush we will get blamed for all of it.

Hamas has learned well from the "Blame Bush" idiots, including Aristide. I'm sure they, like the former Malaysian PM, are endorsing Kerry for president, because they know where their best chances of survival lie.
