Agree on the "conspiracy" issue.

Also agree on what is important in this election re: Kerry's suitability for leadership and projecting an image that will deter, not encourage, terrorism.

As for this:

and then when they rise up we should just ask them to please be nice or we might get really mad at them. Not mad enough to do something that lasts longer than a weekend, but really mad.

I thought we already tried that during the Clinton years.

You may be right. I'm not a lawyer & do not know the
specifics of the law either then or now.

I didn't elaborate, but the fact that senior members went
into a planned, special, private meeting to discuss this
issue tells me that this plot was dead serious & several
senior members wanted the VVAW to fully participate in the
assassination of US Senators. IOW, this meeting didn't
happen the way you explained it.

If some of the members had already met separately &
conspired to have the VVAW participate in the
assissination of US Senators, then this next step may be
grounds for conspiracy. Perhaps not - in any event, it's
not the most important point to me.

Even if it isn't a conspiracy that could be prosecuted,
Kerry knew at this point that he was a top leader of a
group that was more than radical. They had become lawless
radicals. Considering the VVAW's actions up until this
meeting, Kerry had sufficient reason to alert authorities
about this meeting because he knew how radical & lawless
his peers at the top level of the VVAW really were.

Instead he did nothing, just like his horrific &
slanderous testimony before the SENATE FOREIGN RELATIONS
COMMITTEE. Kerry still stands behind his false testimony &
pretends that he cannot recall being at a private meeting
of senior VVAW leaders who discussed assassinating US
Senators.

That is the main point to me. Kerry now has a history of
serious lapses when national security was at stake.

I do not want anyone with this lack of character, ethics &
morals to be President.

this could be a very interesting foreign policy tool

he might want to add the Rumplestilskin jumping up and down foot stomping routine for added effect

OMD, I don't agree that the Kerry /VVAW/Fonda/extreme
radical connections are just a sideshow nor do I think
the comparison to some cocaine party attended by Bush
is apt.

IMO, Kerry chose the anti-war movement as a vehicle
from which to launch his public career. He consorted
with people of questionable background and willingly
touted accusations of atrocities against his fellow
soldiers.

To this date, he has not apologized for those activities
nor even hinted that his allegations may have been in
error. I am not one bit surprised that the radical
organization of which he was a high level leader
and national "face" considered extreme action like
assassination. Kerry failed to blow the whistle.
That says a lot about him.

To me, Kerry is nothing more than a cheap opportunist,
willing to sell his own mother to further his political
career. Stripped to its essence, the rhetoric
about his flip-flops, etc. boils down to a simple charge--
the man stands for nothing and therefore changes with
the winds of expediency.

Actually, I take that back.
The one constant for Kerry is his ambition.
And everything else is sacrificed at that altar.

JMO.
